ovHERcoming obstacles was started in 2017 by nJoy the Rush as an event to connect young girls and women together, providing them resources that will help them achieve their goals. With society’s social media standards and social media usage at an all-time high, it can be difficult for young girls to maintain a high level of self-esteem.
Our goal with ovHERcoming obstacles is to create an environment that shows young girls that they are not alone in any obstacles they may face and, to ensure that they have the necessary tools to assist in their success. We do this by providing an open space for discussion, bringing together women of the community from different backgrounds and careers to provide professional and personal tips, educating the girls on resources/options available.
ovHERcoming obstacles event will kickoff with a mix and mingle portion, allotting networking opportunities with local female business owners. Following the mix and mingle portion, Roxie, host on 102 Jamz, will lead a Q & A session with our guest panel. Afterwards, a breakout session entailing financial education, etiquette and professional tips will take place.
Lastly, we will wrap up the event with an aspiring message from our keynote speaker, Hope Rush, who will share her story of overcoming being a teenage parent to being a successful business woman. This event is a time for young girls to rejuvenate themselves in gaining new mentors and learning new wisdom tips that can be carried with them forever!
